I've always wanted to try ribs, but every recipe I've looked at in the past seemed intimidating so when I found this one, I thought "I can do that!".
Ingredients
- 1.5 tbsp sweet paprika
- 1 tbsp light brown sugar, lightly packed
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 lbs pork (baby) back ribs
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- PAM Cooking Spray
Cut your ribs apart... I did mine in about 4-5 rib serving sizes.
Mix together the brown sugar and spices in a small bowl.
Rub this mixture over both sides of your ribs, I tried to "push" the spices into the meat.
Your next step will be to place your ribs with the thicker side down and the meatier side towards the outside of the crock pot. Cover in your favorite BBQ sauce.
Put your crockpot on low, cover and cook for about 7 hours (you could prolly do 6 or longer and be fine). The first photo is 6 hours, and the second photo is about 7 and a half...
Now heat your grill up to medium high heat. Remove the ribs from the crockpot - be careful, they will be VERY tender and try to fall apart! While your grill is heating, strain the juice from the crockpot through a metal strainer into a saucepan.
Bring to a boil and reduce, about 15 minutes. Spray your grill with PAM, ribs are very sticky and will stick and fall apart if you don't do something. Brown your ribs, basting with the reduced sauce from the crockpot. I grilled mine on both sides til brown and crispy!
That's it! These were so good, my dad brought ribs home from Costco the other day - think thats a hint to repeat it ?
This is just for the ribs themselves as nutritional data varies so drastically from sauce to sauce!
